Honoring Coach Fred Powell’s Legacy
The Fred Powell SRU Wrestling Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt 501(C)(3) is dedicated to honoring the legacy of coach Fred Powell by promoting and sustaining amateur wrestling at Slippery Rock University through appropriate activities including fundraising to support coaching positions, scholarships and other activities such as education, leadership, character building, and athletic excellence through camps, tournaments, community events and for other related charitable purposes.
Timeline of Wrestling returning to the Rock:
- 2025-26 SRU announces return of DII Wrestling and fund-raising campaign
- 2026-27 Coach & Asst. hired and perform recruiting
- 2027-28 Competition in PSAC and post season championships
